Types of Massage:
Accupressure: Pressing of vital points along energy meridians or lines with the fingers, thumbs and palms.
Deep Tissue: Techniques which primarily seek effect upon the deeper tissues of the body such as fascia and other non-superficial tissues.
Esalen: Named after the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. A blend of Eastern and Western massage techniques with an emphasis on empathy, nurturing and the healing relationship. Utilizes Swedish massage forms.
Native American Hot Rock Massage: Working with heated rocks and applying them with motion on the body. Many other rocks are placed on energy centers allowing warmth to flow over the entire body.
Reflexology: Hand and foot points pressured by use of the fingers and thumbs believed to affect the rest of the body.
Russian: Repetitive series of massage strokes used primarily for sports related massage.
Shiatsu: Finger pressure system from Japan whereby the thumbs are used to press vital points along meridian lines.
Sports Massage: Specific techniques designed for athletes before, during, after and within training programs.
Swedish Massage: Derived from the formalization of the five basic strokes (effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, and vibration).
